The other thing we can make candles out of if we don’t have bees is the wax myrtle bush. Also know as the bayberry the multi level marketing company Party Lite makes their candles exclusively from bayberry. My wife sold these candles for a few years. What I think is cool about these candle is that you can stick your finger in the melted liquid wax and it will not burn you like a regular candle wax will. My plan is to have wax myrtles as a hedge at some place on my property.
The trick to getting the wax off the berries is to boil them and it floats to the top. Then you scoop it off. I have never done it, so I am not sure of the temperature or how long.
